Innovative Portfolios is a money management firm providing investment strategies to financial professionals, RIAs, and institutional investors.
And, while the company is fairly young, we are old hands in money management—with decades of experience crafting proprietary investment portfolios and option-based strategies on top of traditional investments.

Our Background
Innovative Portfolios was the inspiration of David Sheaff Gilreath and Ron Brock as the next logical move in offering their particular style of investment strategies…this time by providing knowledge and resources to financial professionals.
Having worked together in financial advisory and management roles at brand-name wirehouses in their early careers, Dave and Ron grew tired of cookie-cutter solutions and determined they could provide a more customized approach to their investment clients. Launched with four staff members and $65 million in assets under management, Sheaff Brock Investment Advisors was established in November of 2001 to build and preserve wealth for high net-worth individuals in the United States. The company has grown to more than twenty times its initial AUM and 20-plus employees—including the original staff—since its inception.
Over the last 22-plus years, their holding company, Sheaff Brock Capital Management, has invested in and established multiple successful registered investment advisory firms and funds. One of those firms, Innovative Portfolios, is the money management entity for RIAs and institutional clients. In 2022, Innovative Portfolios converted its two mutual funds to ETFs and launched a private fund.
Our Investment Strategies
Offering scale to RIAs, Innovative Portfolios provides institutional-level money management strategies with the goal of helping maximize clients’ returns. The firm’s actively managed strategies are focused on income and/or growth through SMAs, including preferred income and REIT portfolios. Two exchange-traded funds strive to provide strategic investment options by investing in U.S. Dividend Achievers stocks and preferred securities, paired with an index-based option overlay for potential additional income.
The firm, together with its affiliate RIAs, handles approximately $1.7 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2024.
